How Payments Work

Depositions by Filevine uses Stripe to process contractor payments.

  • Payments you receive represent gross earnings (before taxes)
  • Stripe may issue tax forms (such as a 1099) depending on your earnings and applicable reporting thresholds
  • You can access payment and tax information through the Stripe Express Dashboard

Tax Forms (1099-NEC)

Will I receive a 1099?

You may receive a Form 1099-NEC depending on your total earnings and applicable federal and state reporting requirements.

If you earned less than $600 over the course of the year, you may not receive a 1099 form, and one will not be generated for you unless you meet a lower filing threshold required by your state. If your state has a reporting threshold below $600, you may still receive a 1099 form.

When will my 1099 be available?

By January 31, 2026:

  • Your 1099 tax form will be available to download through Stripe Express if you have consented to e‑delivery
  • If you do not receive an email from Stripe or do not consent to e‑delivery, your 1099 tax form will be mailed to you
  • Please allow up to 10 business days for postal delivery

Keeping your Stripe Express account information up to date—including your email address and delivery preferences—helps ensure timely access to your tax form.
